Dr. Mark Rubin, M.D. is a native of Syracuse, New York and attended the University of Buffalo where he received his Bachelors of Arts. He then went on to attend the University of Bologna, College of Medicine and Surgery and was awarded his M.D degree Summa Cum Laude.After graduating from medical school, he returned to Buffalo where he did his internship and residency in Ophthalmology. He then returned back to Europe where he served as Chief of Ophthalmology at the US Army Hospital in Augsburg, Germany, and then as consultant Ophthalmologist to the US Air Force at the Aviano Air Base, Italy.
He simultaneously worked as a private ophthalmologist in Modena, Italy until returning to Florida where he has remained in private practice ever since. He is licensed to practice medicine in New York, Florida, Italy and Grand Cayman.
Dr. Rubin is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons, an Overseas Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, a Life Fellow of the American College of International Physicians. He is also a member of the Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA), the Civil Aviation Medical Association (CAMA), a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and has been elected as a member of the International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine (IAASM)
Dr. Rubin is a licensed pilot with multi-engine and instrument ratings and is also a CMAS advanced open-water scuba diver.
He presently hold the rank of Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force Auxiliary, the Civil Air Patrol and serves as the
Medical Officer for the Ormond Beach Composite Squadron SER-FL-049
Dr. Mark Rubin, aside from being a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist, has been an AME since 2000 when he was first authorized by the FAA and the CAA in the UK as a JAA AME. When the JAA converted to EASA, Dr. Rubin continued to serve as a senior AME for the UK until Brexit. Wishing to continue to serve his international aviation population in the US, he joined Transport Malta where he was able to continue as an EASA AME while remaining with the UK and the FAA.
He has recently sold and retired from his ophthalmology practice, but will continue serving as a Senior AME on a once-weekly basis by appointment only.
